Tenant not included: Listing agent criticized for listing photos and video of sleeping tenant

The picture shows the tenant still in bed

A six-bedroom HMO in Penrith has come to market with a feature rarely mentioned in the description: a tenant who is still in it.

The £145,000 listing includes photos of a room in active use – with a figure under the duvet – while a video tour (see below) One steps forward, catches a bleary-eyed resident wandering through the property and opens the door for the agent.

Billed by Prime Property Auctions as a “rare, not-to-be-missed investment opportunity”, the property offers six rentable rooms, five currently occupied – and, based on the listing, at least one is staunchly off-duty.

Potential buyers browsing the listing immediately spotted the inspection, with the unplanned cameo of a dozen tenants proving more attractive than any typical selling point.

“I would be embarrassed if that was my rental property,” one person said online.

“Jesus, this is really sad,” said another commenter. “Poor guy trying to sleep and having a camera inserted into his private space and being published on Rightmove.”

“A prime demonstration that estate agents really are monsters,” a third person contributed. “What possessed them to include that photo?”

“It’s almost as if all humanity has been taken away from them, as well as all logic.”
