Another prominent politician confirmed as keynote speaker at PropertyMark One conference

Sir Mel Stride

propertymark has confirmed that Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer Sir Mel Stride will speak at its Propertymark One conference at ExCe London on 12 June 2026.

He will be joined by other speakers including former Housing Secretary Angela Rayner to address the issues affecting the UK housing market.

Sir Mel is expected to outline his views on housing market reform, including proposals relating to stamp duty on primary residences, which he has previously criticized as hindering movement in the housing market.

His session will focus on the impact of transaction taxes on affordability, mobility and macroeconomic activity.

Propertymark said the conference will bring together representatives from the property sector to discuss policy and market conditions affecting housing supply and demand.

Jason Lee, Commercial Manager at Propertymark, commented: “Hosting Sir Mel Stride at the Propertymark One conference gives attendees a valuable opportunity to engage directly with a leading political figure on a policy sector that has a profound impact on the housing market. Stamp duty continues to influence behavior at every stage of the property lifecycle, and any proposals to reform or abolish it need to be seriously considered by industry professionals.

“Our conference is about bringing together insight, expertise and forward-looking debate. Sir Mel’s contribution will add an important political and economic dimension to the discussion about how we can create a more fluid, accessible and efficient housing market.”
